About the Book
This edition is redesigned to give a foundation course in research methodology for those who have just entered the field of research know in order to optimize his research results and be able to present his research findings in an acceptable manner and form. Adoption of appropriate methodology is an essential characteristic on quality research studies irrespective of the discipline with they are related. The present book provides the basic tenets of methodological research so that researchers may become familiar with the art of using research methods and techniques.
This edition contains introductory explanation of several quantitative methods enjoying wide use in social science. It covers a fairly wide range in social sciences and other related disciplines. Though not meant to be an all inclusive and comprehensive work on research methodology, it attempts to give a skeleton of the methods and procedures a researcher should relate to research Methodology. The presentation is uniformly economical and cogent. Illustrations given are meaningful and relevant. The book can be taken as a well-organised guide for research whose methodological background is not extensive.
The book is primarily intended to serve as a text book for social science students of all Indian universities. It will also serve as a text for the students of BBA/ MBA/ BCA/ MCA, and students of various institutes. It will serve all practitioners doing research on one form or other in a general way.
About the Author
Pankaj Madan is a multidisciplinary academician with degrees in Production Engineering, Management and Web Technology. He is a Practicing Professor and Corporate Trainer of international repute and is presently Director, COER School of Management, College of Engineering, Rookee. In the past Dr. Madan worked for a long time at Faculty of Management Studies, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar at various positions and before turning to academia he had worked with two reputed Engineering Companies. He has also taught at University of Southern Queensland in Dubai as an Asst. Professor and is Visiting Professor at Shaoxing University, China and CENTRUM Catolica, the Business Centre of the Pontifician Universidad Catolica del Peru. Dr. Madan is a consultant registered with Quality Council of India and imparts corporate trainings and consultancy on Quality Management and Career Planning. He has already authored 6 books and conducted more than 500 workshops and trainings. He has contributed research papers to many national and international journals. He is associated with 15 universities nationally and internationally for various academic purposes and has professional links with many corporate bodies.
Vageesh Paliwal received his MCA and MBA degrees from Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India. His Ph.D. work is in the area of Bhagwad Gita and Management. He received various Awards, Scholarships and Certificates of Merit during his school and college days. As lecturer he taught and guided BCA, BBA and MBA students of HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar, Garhwal, Uttarakhand. In recent years, Vageesh Paliwal has been spending most of his professional time writing text books, participating in Seminars & Conferences and delivering Radio Talks in the area of Vedic Management. His articles on this and other topics have appeared in different seminar’s proceedings. He has a vast industrial experience too. Currently he is an Assistant Professor at Faculty of Management Studies, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India. He is the coordinator of the Communication Lab in the Faculty.. He is teaching and guiding MBA, MBA (Business Finance) and MBA (Business Economics) students in the area of Vedic Management, Business Communication, DSS & MIS and Marketing.
Rajul Bhardwaj is a lecturer in Management with Faculty of Management Studies, Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalya, Haridwar, India, where he teaches and conducts research in Human Resource, Marketing and General Management. He is much sought after teacher in area of marketing and HRM and his area of research is Competency Management. His current area of interest is finding innovative areas of improving competencies among professionals.
